An Article I Read today

Sunday I stated my concept of the gathering of the church as a sales meeting where we get ready to go and do the business of the church. That gathering is where we prepare for and respond to and report about ministry for the week previous and the week coming.
It seems folks believe the gathering of the church is where ministry happens and often the only place it happens. Just so you know, God is bigger than that!
The article points in a similar direction. Click on the title to read.

Life would be so much easier if people followed directions...

Relationally...
Do to others as you want them to do to you!
Treat them with respect, courtesy and kindness.
Financially...
Pay your bills! Spend only what you have!
Morally...
Train up a child in the way he should go...
Children lean more from what they see. Parents model good behavior ALL the time. Parents be good people then children will have a better chance at being "good people."
Physically...
Do what you are supposed to do when you are supposed to do it!

That's about it!

It's about time!

Well it has been one month today since my last post. So, here goes another one.
Sunday, we used as an example the guards at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Washington, D.C. A solemn and inspiring place of honor and respect for all of those who paid the ultimate price for freedom and this country. The sentinels keep watch 24/7 365 days a year with utmost precision, respect and honor for the duty and the fallen. I have been there it is something to witness.

As I finished presenting the message Sunday I have been reminded daily that those guards walk 21 steps, wait 21 seconds, turn and walk 21 steps before a tomb filled with remains of men. They honor their memory. As a follower of Jesus I have a tomb with NO remains, a cross with no victim hanging on it, a savior who is alive and well. My honor and respect is for the living not the dead. How much more devotion does a living hero deserve than dead ones? Can I walk the same ever again?

My walk MUST be different. A cross and an empty tomb DEMAND it.
